Is sexual harassment training required by law?

Yes, in many jurisdictions it is. Several U.S. states (including California, New York, Illinois, and others) mandate sexual harassment prevention training for employees and supervisors.
Which states have mandatory sexual harassment training laws/requirements?

Several States have mandatory harassment training requirements including California (SB 1343), New York State & NYC, Connecticut, Illinois, Delaware, and Maine. Additionally, most States have training recommendations/suggestions even if they don’t require training.
Who should take this training?

Our training is designed for all employees, including non-supervisory staff, supervisors, and managers. Certain states may have specific training requirements for different roles. New hires (within a set timeframe after starting). Our harassment training is customized to meet State and Federal regulations. Several States also require bystander intervention training.

In which languages are the sexual harassment training courses available?

EHT’s training courses are available in English and Spanish for live onsite or virtual live training formats.
Are small businesses exempt?

Not always. For example, California’s law applies to employers with 5 or more employees, and New York's law applies to all employers, regardless of size.

How long does each training take?

Most employee courses take approximately 1 hour, while supervisor/manager versions typically take 2 hours to meet legal standards. However, some companies want to expand their training to include topics such as communication, supervisory skills, teamwork and more.
Does EHT offer sexual harassment training in all 50 states?

We are a national company and meet all State and Federal requirements and/ or recommendations. We offer onsite training or live virtual training.
What training materials are included in the sexual harassment compliance training?

We provide PowerPoint slides, State mandates, company policies, an assessment demonstrating employees' learning and application and complete the training with a Certificate of Completion for each employee.
Can managers and employees attend the same sexual harassment training?

Yes, they can. However, managers/supervisors are held to higher standards and often require 2 hours of training and employees typically require 1 hour of training. Some companies will offer the training for Managers and employees combined by offering the first hour for all employees/managers. The second hour only managers/supervisors would attend.
What is the fee/pricing for onsite or virtual live sexual harassment prevention training?

Pricing for training courses depends on the number of employees, hours requested for training, the number of training sessions desired, and the number of languages spoken. Will I receive a certificate after completing the training?

Yes. Upon successful completion, participants receive a downloadable certificate that can be printed or saved for employer records.
How often do I need to take harassment training?

Frequency depends on state law. For example, California requires training every 2 years. We recommend checking your local requirements or contacting your HR department.
